Overview

Are you a pharmacist who thrives at the intersection of clinical expertise, operational leadership, and system-level decision-making? The Supervisor, Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM), plays a distinctive role in shaping how pharmacy benefits are delivered across our organization.

The Supervisor, PBM, is responsible for the operational oversight and clinical administration of the organization’s pharmacy benefits program. This role provides leadership to the PBM team as well as the non-pharmacy Payment Services Triage team , ensures compliance with third-party pharmacy administration contracts, and offers expert clinical guidance to internal and external stakeholders. The Supervisor plays a key role in optimizing pharmacy benefit processes, maintaining data integrity, and ensuring cost-effective, evidence-based medication management.

What you'll do

  • Lead and supervise the PBM and Payment Services Triage team, managing daily operations, assigning work and monitoring performance.
  • Oversee third-party pharmacy administration contracts, ensuring service level compliance, analyzing reports, and identifying operational issues and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Provide clinical expertise, including medication reviews, guidance on complex claims, and advice to internal staff and external health professionals.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for departmental staff and others, including education on medication management and specialized areas such as opioids and medical cannabis.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and drive improvements, leading projects, participating in RFP processes, maintaining program statistics, and recommending enhancements to PBM processes and systems.

Your background and experience 

  • Entry-to-Practice PharmD degree or equivalent from an accredited university with current registration as a licensed pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
  • A minimum of  five years of experience as a licensed pharmacist, including supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of medication therapy, pharmacy operations, and drug benefit programs and community pharmacy systems, including knowledge with specific expertise in medical cannabis and cannabinoid-bsed therapy regimens.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy management systems, such as Telus Health Solutions is an asset.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, i.e., data analysis, formulas, pivot tables, conditional formatting and charts.

Salary: $48.46 - $61.09/hourly
