We have an opportunity for a Senior Legal Administrative Assistant to join a team of seasoned lawyers.

In this role, you’ll provide senior-level administrative and legal support to lawyers managing a diverse portfolio of litigation, advisory, and corporate legal matters. You’ll play a critical part in ensuring legal files are accurately managed, court deadlines are met, and confidential matters are handled with the highest level of professionalism and discretion.

What you'll do

  • Support senior lawyers on managing complex and confidential litigation files from initiation through closure, ensuring records are correctly filed and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepares a wide variety of legal documents with respect to trials, judicial reviews, and other hearings in accordance with the procedures and rules of the Supreme Court of B.C., B.C. Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of Canada, Provincial Court of B.C., Human Rights Tribunal, and professional regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinates examinations for discovery, trials, hearings, mediations, and meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Draft and proofread a wide variety of legal correspondence, court materials, and other documentation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Act as a key point of contact for legal inquiries, including gathering information, responding to routine requests, and directing matters to the appropriate legal resource.
  • Maintain lawyer mailboxes and coordinate meetings, events, and departmental activities.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Strong knowledge of court and tribunal procedures, legal documentation, and filing requirements.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates precision in managing legal files, preparing documents, and maintaining organized systems, ensuring all work aligns with established procedures and deadlines.
  • A proactive and self-sufficient approach with the ability to demonstrate initiative to move work forward and anticipate needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion.
  • The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while supporting multiple priorities.
  • Build positive relationships within the department and across teams, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.

Your background and experience

  • A post-secondary degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a legal administrative support capacity within litigation practices
  • A paralegal diploma is an asset
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office tools in a legal environment and familiarity with electronic legal file management systems.

We’ll consider equivalent combinations of education and experience.

Salary: $65,476 - $79,553/annually
