WorkSafeBC’s Legal Services department is seeking a recently called lawyer for the Hearings Lawyer position within our Prohibited Action Complaints (PAC) department.
In this role, you’ll manage submissions and evidence for the hearing of prohibited action complaints filed by workers under the Workers Compensation Act (“WCA”) related to workplace reprisals for exercising health and safety rights under the WCA.
This opportunity is temporary for 12 months.

Where you’ll work
At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.
We’re looking for people who can:
- Communicate legal concepts and decisions in a clear and concise manner to individuals and groups with varying levels of understanding
- Employ sound judgment in the application of law and policy to weigh evidence, make decisions, and resolve issues
- Demonstrate understanding of administrative law and rules of evidence
- Prioritize a large volume of work in tight deadlines with ability to respond to external pressures
- Interact with management, team members, and stakeholders in a confident, professional and objective manner
Your background and experience
- Must have a Bachelor’s of Law Degree (LL.B. or J.D.)
- A member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia
- 3-6 months of legal experience

Salary: $41.56 - $52.35/hourly
