Are you a data analytics expert with an interest or experience in human
resources metrics? We have an opportunity for a People & Culture Advisor to
support our People Analytics team. This is an intermediate position that
provides an excellent opportunity to build on your analytical and
problem-solving skills in an active, large organization.
You’ll be part of a central team that provides reporting and analysis on
all areas of HR using identified data sets, including understanding the
business questions of clients, identifying the right data to answer those
questions, and analyzing that data to provide insight.
This opportunity is within our technical work stream, which focuses
primarily on the development and maintenance of queries, datasets, and Power BI
solutions. However, this position will also work cross-functionally as needed
within our advisory work stream, which focuses primarily on consulting with our
business clients and presenting insights and analyses. As such, this position
requires both an advisory and a technical mindset.
This is a
temporary role for 18 months.

At
WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in
our offices based on the operational needs of the position.
As a people & culture advisor within the
technical work stream of the People Analytics team, you will:
- Under
the direction of the Manager, People Analytics, collaborate with clients to
identify reporting requirements and provide ongoing and ad hoc analysis and
reporting.
- Use Microsoft Power BI to connect to the data
warehouse and develop reports and dashboards that provide insights and answer
business questions.
- Use PeopleSoft Query to extract required data
sets and prepare reports using Power BI and/or Excel.
- Partner with the Information Technology team
to ensure new data sets are incorporated into the cloud data warehouse and that
new views and tables are developed to support effective and accurate analysis.
- Maintain security access roles and technical
documentation for all Power BI reports and dashboards.
- As the People Analytics function continues to
mature, collaborate with advisory team members to develop predictive analytics
solutions and statistical models.
- As
required, this position will also take on advisory duties, which includes, but
is not limited to:
* Identifying,
developing, defining, and managing distribution of metrics, measures, and KPIs
via annual and quarterly reports for all areas of People & Culture.
* Providing
insights and analyses for business client questions, in a way that visually
communicates the story of what is happening

Your background and experience
- A degree or a diploma in human resources, data
science, computer science, business technology management, information systems,
business analytics, or a related discipline
- Proficient in MS Office suite including Excel,
Word, Office, PowerPoint and Teams
- Intermediate skills in Excel (filtering, pivot
tables, formulas including SUM, SUMIF, AVERAGE, VLOOKUP, IF, INDEX MATCH, etc.)
- Experience in a human resources role or a data
analytics role, preferably in the public sector or a large, unionized setting
- Exposure to an HRIS system (PeopleSoft/Oracle
preferred) and knowledge of HR metrics and reporting principles
- Good working knowledge of relational database
concepts and best practices is required.
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar
data visualization and reporting software is required
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management
Studio (SSMS) or similar SQL development environment is required
- Experience in R
(RStudio), Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate are assets.
- CPHR designation (or working towards completion)
is an asset
