Manager Experience Design

 

Overview

What if you could lead the design of experiences that transform how stakeholders engage with our services?

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Experience within the Stakeholder Engagement, Marketing and Communications (SEMC) division, the Manager, Experience Design – Prevention focus leads a team responsible for designing and championing exceptional experiences across the prevention division (primarily workers, employers, and Prevention employees). This role drives the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of initiatives that enhance both internal and external stakeholder experiences, aligning with the Stakeholder and Employee Experience Framework and WorkSafeBC’s priorities.

Working collaboratively across the organization, the Manager applies research and behavioural insights, promotes inclusive and human-centred design practices, and ensures initiatives reflect the needs and expectations of those we serve. As part of SEMC’s management team, the Manager also contributes to strategic planning and initiatives that strengthen the organization’s reputation and commitment to service excellence.

This is a temporary role for 8 months.

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position. 

In this role, you will work primarily from our Richmond Office with some flexibility to work from your home in B.C.

What you'll do

  • Lead and manage an Experience Design team, setting priorities, supporting staff development, and ensuring high-quality delivery of stakeholder and employee experience initiatives.
  • Develop and implement team business plans and service experience strategies that align with divisional goals, monitoring progress and adapting to evolving organizational priorities.
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative research and insights activities, translating findings into actionable recommendations that represent the voice of our stakeholders, inform strategy, service improvements, and innovation.
  • Champion human-centred and inclusive design practices, guiding the development of consistent and accessible user and service experiences across channels and business groups.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and leadership, including research and insights, marketing and communications, technology, and operations, to align experience initiatives with corporate priorities and brand standards.
  • Manage operational and financial resources, including budget oversight, reporting, and contributing to divisional planning, policy development, and organizational initiatives.
  • Consistently models the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking.

  • Think both strategically and operationally, guiding initiatives from concept through implementation and evaluation.
  • Committed to service excellence and continuous improvement, staying informed about emerging trends and best practices in experience design.

Your background and experience

  • Master’s Degree in Research, Social Sciences, Marketing, Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of management experience, preferably in experience design, service design, user experience, research or a related discipline.
  • Experience leading qualitative and quantitative research initiatives, including synthesizing insights to inform organizational strategies and service improvements.
  • Knowledge of experience design, service design, or user experience methodologies, including approaches used to evaluate and improve end-to-end experiences.
  • Experience working in complex organizations with multiple stakeholders, preferably in the public sector or a similarly service-focused environment.

Salary: $119,091.00 - $144,695.00/annually
