We are looking for Industry and Program Specialists with advanced experience in
creating and implementing occupational health and safety programs and
initiatives that prevent worker injury and disease.

Where
you’ll work
At
WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in
our offices based on the operational needs of the position.
We have positions available in the following locations, with a
preference for specific industry knowledge and experience per location below:
- Kelowna: Primary Resources (Agriculture, Energy)
- Nanaimo: Healthcare, Municipal, and BC Government
- Richmond: Supply Chain and General OHS experience
- Engage with BC stakeholders to:
1) consult and work with industry associations, labour associations, and health and safety associations to develop innovative strategies, programs and resources to prevent workplace injury, disease, and death; and/or
2) provide education and support related to workplace health and safety matters with a focus on ensuring that employers can achieve sustainable regulatory compliance and that workers are aware of their rights and responsibilities.
- Consistently models the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking.
We’re
looking for people who can:
- Identify,
develop, and implement strategic prevention services, programs, projects, and
initiatives that positively impact workplace health and safety
- Act as a
technical resource and apply workplace health and safety expertise and
knowledge to various stakeholders including health & safety associations
and industry associations
- Build
partnerships and networks with industry stakeholders to establish positive
long-term relationships
- Prepare and
deliver impactful OHS safety presentations to various stakeholders with the
purpose of educating on key OHS topics
- Support
stakeholders by providing in-depth analysis and improvement of OHS programs,
processes and culture, specific risk control initiatives and innovative
projects
- Travel overnight
in BC on occasion. Travel to various locations local to your area may be
routinely required
- Work evenings and
weekends periodically, as required
Your background and experience
- A degree in a
related discipline
- A minimum of nine years of
progressive professional experience and at least 3
years of health and safety experience such as
development of risk assessments, designing, delivering, and implementing
health and safety programs, conducting workplace
inspections/investigations, monitoring/evaluating an organization’s safety
performance, participating in audits, addressing compliance issues, and
developing corrective action plans to improve safety performance.

combinations of education and experience.
