WorkSafeBC is seeking a Fair Practices Commissioner (FPC) to lead our independent Office of the Fair Practices Commissioner (OFPC). In this vital role, you will ensure that fairness is upheld in all WorkSafeBC’s interactions with workers, employers, and their dependents. Reporting directly to our Board of Directors, the FPC conducts independent investigations into complaints, identifies systemic issues affecting fairness, and provides recommendations that strengthen transparency and accountability across the organization.
This position is a part time role that operates fully independently from WorkSafeBC’s operational activities and plays an essential role in maintaining public trust in our services and decisions.

Where you’ll work
At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.
In this role, you will work primarily remotely from your home in B.C., based on the operational needs of the position. There may be occasions when you are asked to come to the office, such as for training and orientation.

Your background and experience
- Degree in Law or a graduate degree in Public or Business Administration.
- Minimum 5 years of senior-level experience in an adjudicative or ombudsperson role.
- Deep knowledge of administrative and workers’ compensation law.
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams and drive systemic change.

Our benefits
The Fair Practice Commissioner is paid by a minimum retainer and hours worked.
Salary: $202,481- $246,015/annually (pro-rated based on hours worked)
