Data Architect

 

Overview

We’re looking for an experienced, highly motivated, and strategic Data Architect to join our Analytics & Data Lifecycle Services team within the Innovation & Technology department. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for designing scalable data solutions, establishing enterprise data standards, and enabling data-driven decision making across the organization.

In this role, you’ll report to the Manager, Data Strategy and Governance, and will be responsible for leading and influencing the structure and organization of data assets within the enterprise to support business processes, decision-making and strategic planning. You will have 3 main areas of responsibility: product data leadership (including providing insight into investment decisions for new data in future and legacy systems and proper product data architecture design), overseeing the process for defining and maintaining organizational data (maintaining the Enterprise Data Model, identifying common/standard data sources, setting up data governance stands), and the advancement of data and data architecture.

What you'll do

As a Data Architect, you will:

  • Lead the design, development, and evolution of enterprise data architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models
  • Define and maintain the Enterprise Data Model (EDM), ensuring alignment with business needs and strategic objectives
  • Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, and technology teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
  • Develop and enforce data architecture standards, best practices, and governance frameworks
  • Oversee data integration, storage, and pipeline design, leveraging modern cloud-based technologies
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity through governance processes, including profiling, validation, and monitoring
  • Identify and manage shared and master data assets across the organization
  • Conduct impact assessments for system and application changes affecting data architecture
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams and stakeholders on data-related initiatives
  • Consistently models the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking.

  • Think strategically about long-term data architecture evolution and innovation

Your background and experience

  • An undergraduate degree in technology or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
  • A minimum of 3-6 years (real-time) of directly related experience which includes at least 2 years of experience in a data architecture/design/modelling role.
  • Experience with enterprise data modeling, data governance, and cloud-based data platforms

Our benefits

Extra 4% of your salary in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation from the day you start

Once you’ve worked for 1820 hours (approximately 12 months), you’ll switch to getting:

  • 3 weeks of vacation with regular increases based on years of service
  • Extensive health care and dental benefits
  • Sick leave and long-term disability coverage

Salary: $48.46 - $61.09/hourly
