Co-op Student, Digital Engagement

 

Overview

Are you interested in digital and content marketing? Want a co-op position where you’ll have the chance to make a positive difference in the lives of people across BC?

WorkSafeBC is looking for a highly motivated Co-op Student, Digital Marketing who is passionate about creating on-trend social media videos, writing informative newsletters and crafting shareable, information-rich posts. The ideal student will also be excited to explore digital marketing best practices and build an in-house library for creative campaigns. This person should come ready to help support the marketing team from a digital, social and research capacity.

This is a temporary four-month full-time position starting in January 2026.

How you’ll make a difference: You’ll apply what you’ve learned in your post-secondary program to benefit workers and employers across B.C. through the creation of on-brand, attention-grabbing digital marketing.

Where you’ll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a model that combines the convenience of some remote work with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position. 

In this role, you’ll work two days a week in our Richmond office.

What you'll do

During your first week, you’ll be partnered with your manager for training and immersing yourself in the team and the department's work. Together with your manager and team, you’ll clarify your role's goals and how to achieve them.

This role is ideal for an individual who is eager to step beyond their comfort zone. We are looking for someone with strong motivation, an interest in creative marketing and data, and a passion for making a difference.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Work with internal teams to develop social video contents, including planning, script writing, and potentially being on camera. 
  • Contribute to creating digital content, such as writing prompts on social media posts, video scripts and email newsletters
  • Conduct market research on current newsletter best practices, including success metrics Schedule digital marketing content and track performance analytics.
  • Consistently models the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking

  • Apply strong content creation skills across a variety of mediums
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate a high level of quality and accuracy in their work
  • Demonstrate a proactive, service-focused attitude towards internal partners and the teams we support
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritize work and complete tasks with quick turnaround times
  • Self-start, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

Your background and experience

  • Is a third- or fourth-year student and enrolled in any of the following programs: Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, English
  • Is interested in writing both short and long copy
  • Interest and knowledge in digital marketing, particularly social media, is an asset
  • Familiarity with key social media platforms and tools (e.g., Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Substack)
  • Prior experience working in an office setting or in a previous co-op term is an asset

Before we can finalize any offer of employment, you must:

  • Confirm you’re legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Confirm you’re a registered student at a post-secondary institution and is participating in a work integrated learning program

Salary: $23.05/hourly
