Clinical Recovery Specialist - Physiotherapist

Overview

Are you a physiotherapist who would like to collaborate with an inter-disciplinary team focused on treatment plans that support clients’ return to work and function? We have opportunities for Clinical Recovery Specialists to support workers by making health care benefit decisions for health-related programs and services that assist injured workers in their recovery from injuries. This involves conducting reviews of assessment, treatment, and other claim documents to make evidence-based health care benefit decisions.

In this role, you’ll develop partnerships with WorkSafeBC staff and external health care providers to facilitate timely, work-focused interventions that promote wellbeing and recovery in the context of return to work. Your progressive, hands-on clinical experience and best-practice approaches to treatment, along with your strong communication skills, will assist you in supporting workers’ recovery and return to work.

How you’ll make a difference: You’ll ensure people who get seriously injured at work receive the care and services they need.

Where you’ll work

At WorkSafeBC, we currently offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

What you'll do

  • Use knowledge and familiarity of best-practice/evidence-based interventions related to health conditions to make decisions about treatment services that consider specific conditions and individual circumstances of each worker
  • Interact with health care providers to discuss treatment goals and work-focused interventions, using abilities-focused language
  • Consult on health care treatment to interdisciplinary teams to help injured workers return to work and liaise with providers and other parties as needed to discuss treatment goals
  • Identify return to work factors that may facilitate treatment or that are acting as barriers to engagement with treatment and recommend solutions that can include referrals to internal or external supports
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in case management and vocational rehabilitation to support sustainable return to work
  • Apply a compassion-informed model when considering best-fit service options

Is this a good fit for you?

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Analyze, synthesize, and evaluate complex information; interpret and apply guidelines and policies in combination with scientific knowledge and clinical practices in or to develop an action plan for clients
  • Clearly and professionally present expert knowledge, opinions and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of individuals and groups
  • Apply theoretical knowledge to the assessment, interpretation, planning, and implementation of active treatment programs for injured workers within current accepted practice guidelines in an active rehabilitation setting
  • Take initiative, recognize issues, and implement solutions
  • Interact, establish rapport, and build trust with clients, colleagues, and others in a professional and sensitive manner in a clinically complex and culturally diverse environment
  • Work collaboratively in a team

Your background and experience

  • A master’s degree in physiotherapy and current registration in good standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC
  • A minimum of six years of progressive, hands-on clinical experience (within the last 10 years) in settings such as acute care, primary care, occupational rehabilitation, occupational health, or community health
  • Experience must demonstrate advanced clinical judgment and decision-making in areas such as health care delivery, disability management, case consultation, return-to-work orientation, and workers’ compensation

Important to know

Before we can finalize any offer of employment, you must:

  • Successfully meet the legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act to work with children and/or vulnerable adults
  • Confirm you’re legally entitled to work in Canada
