This is a critical role for someone who excels in data-driven audit approaches while upholding internal audit methodology and relevant standards.
How you’ll make a difference: You’ll help ensure WorkSafeBC is accomplishing its objectives by evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
Where you’ll work
At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.
In this role, you will work primarily from our Richmond Office with some flexibility to work from your home in B.C.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a track record of performing comprehensive audits across a wide range of areas, including emerging technologies and platforms
- Strives for quality and excellence and takes personal accountability to ensure that your professional development plan keeps your expertise current
- Has proven ability to recognize and critically analyze complex business issues, identify governance, risks and control gaps, and provide practical recommendations
- Has a consistent history of meeting tight deadlines with a “Make It Happen” attitude and a forward-thinking mindset to anticipate and mitigate impediments to success
- Has an open mindset and positive attitude to discuss and address feedback/constructive criticism
- Takes initiative to evolve audit methodologies using data analytics and automation
- Demonstrates expertise in fostering a learning culture and nurturing a growth mindset within the team
Your background and experience
- A degree in business, economics, computer science, data science, or a related discipline
- A Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification, with the anticipation of obtaining another IT-related designation within one year of hiring, such as CISA, CISSP, or CISM
- A minimum of 4 years of experience within internal audit using data analytics tools, including:
- Experience in leveraging control frameworks (e.g., COSO, COBIT, ISO, NIST)
- Experience with cloud environments (e.g., Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure)
- Exposure to information security concepts from a risk and governance perspective (e.g., network security, data privacy, application security, incident response, vulnerability management)
- At least 2 years of coaching or mentoring team members
- Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) would be an asset
- Working knowledge in data analytics and visualization tools, e.g., SQL, Python, PowerBI, and Tableau

Salary: $99,085.97 - $120,389.46/annually
