We’re seeking an accounting technician to be part of a team responsible for general accounting and financial reporting, including the complete and accurate accounting of all transactions; the timely administration of the accounting of all funds received; the back-end management of the payment processes for all corporate and claims payments issued; and the review of GST/PST payments.

Where you’ll work
As an accounting technician, you will:
- Maintain the General Ledger system, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the information in the WorkSafeBC books of accounts
- Monitor and ensure the integrity of the “cradle to grave” flow of financial data from the various operational systems into the General Ledger
- Oversee the accurate recording of all WorkSafeBC cash inflows and outflows by reconciling all WorkSafeBC’s bank accounts on a monthly basis
- Manage the back-end of the payment processes for all corporate and claims payments issued by WorkSafeBC to ensure accurate and timely payments to injured workers, employers, and providers
- Manage the self-insured employer accounts, and the accounting for the Pensioners Retirement Benefits fund
- Determine the most appropriate disposition and allocation of third-party litigation settlement funds
We are looking for someone who can:
- Exercise judgement in filtering relevant information, review and analyze information, identify existing and potential problems and provide solutions and recommendations
- Provide quality customer service exhibiting diplomacy and professionalism
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to a variety of audiences
Your Experience and Educational Background:
- A university degree in commerce, business administration, or a related field
- A professional accounting designation (i.e. CPA), or completion of a minimum of 3 modules of the CPA program.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in posting general ledger entries, payment processing, bank reconciliation and recording cash inflows and outflows
- Working knowledge of the following systems: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliation systems, and online banking
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Salary: $35.81/Hourly
